Homemade Pizza Paired with Beer make the Perfect Combo

Undeniably, beer and pizza are two things that pair well together. Another thing that further improves this combo is enjoying both a cold beer and pizza at a pub in Portage while watching an important sporting event. The only real drawback to this pastime is the fact that in our economy, not everyone possesses a lot of disposable income. The solution to this is to make pizza at home, purchase a six pack and watch the important game on your personal TV.

Further, pizza sometimes contains a large number of calories, especially if it is not homemade, but rather bought at a Portage pizza restaurant. Therefore, one more incentive to cooking this meal at home is a reduced calorie count. The following is a recipe for pizza dough that you can try at home. You simply need a mixer with a dough hook, a single package of active dry yeast, five and one half cups of flour, cooking spray, a cup of warm water, one and one quarter cups of cold water, two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and one teaspoon each of sugar and salt. This makes two pizza crusts.

To begin, dissolve the yeast in the warm water and let it sit for a few minutes. While this is going on, whisk the cold water, oil, sugar and salt together. Next, in the mixing bowl, join five and one quarter cups of flour with the yeast and cold water mixtures. Using the dough hook attachment for your mixing machine, mix on low right up until the dough starts to take form. Once this has happened, turn off the mixing machine and wait two minutes. Then, once again mix on low right up until the dough starts to become smooth. Then finally, place the dough on a floured surface and knead until eventually it becomes elastic and smooth. After you have finished the last task, divide the mixture in two and put each piece into a bag that has been coated with cooking spray. You will need to let the dough chill overnight and then when you intend to use it, let it sit at room temperature for an hour.

Whenever you are ready to cook a pizza, just spread out the dough and add a sauce, for example tomato or olive oil. Then, add cheeses. If you want a more healthy pizza, select low fat cheeses. The following step is to add any desired toppings, such as onions, pepperoni or red and green peppers. And lastly, sprinkle just a little more cheese on top before tossing the pizza in the oven. Cook at a higher heat until the dough is a golden brown. Once the pizza is done, remove it from the oven, brush the crust with a little extra virgin olive oil, cut and enjoy.
